Although New York City often overlooks it, historic Boston could be the ideal place to spend the holidays. This New England town is located on the eastern shores of Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. It has stunning ivy-strewn architecture and a frosty, snowy climate.
You can find something to do here, no matter your interests. These are some fun ideas for activities you can do with your family and friends in December in Boston if you have never been.

Meet the Animals of the Stone Zoo
The Stone Zoo is located north of Boston on 26 acres of greenery. They host a special holiday program every December. The centerpiece of the holiday program is its tree-lined walkways decorated with thousands upon thousands of Christmas lights.
Even though this event is an annual one-month-long affair, it draws people of all ages. But kids will be delighted by the Stone Zoo’s holiday program. It is possible to plan your visit to the zoo around their holiday events. Please make sure you check their schedule before going. You can enjoy special events such as musical performances, visits from Mrs. Claus, or even hot chocolate parties with Santa’s reindeer on weekends!
Winter carnival rides are a popular choice for little ones. You can also get photos with Santa daily to keep your holiday memories.
Take a Holiday Cruise and Sail Away
The iconic Northern Lights yacht sails Boston Harbor all year, but their holiday cruises are a tradition for locals and tourists. This luxury yacht is a great place to spend time with your family or enjoy an adult-only evening out.
The Cocoa and Carols cruise is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. This cruise offers Christmas songs played by a live Jazz band. You can even sing along! After you’ve enjoyed their hot chocolate, you can go up to the bar on the upper deck to get a few Schnapps.
Holiday Brunch cruises are a great option if you prefer a day trip. After you have disembarked, you can still enjoy a three-course gourmet breakfast, including a few mimosas, while also having the evening to explore the waterfront.
